Bombardier said it is cutting production of its CRJ commercial aircraft, but the company doesn't expect any workforce impact as a result.
The firm said Tuesday that it is trimming output of the aircraft, effective January 2012, "to align with current market demand."
However, Dorval, Que.-based Bombardier Aerospace said employee transfers to other aircraft projects mean no staffing impact is anticipated.
"Although several sales campaigns for our CRJ aircraft are making progress and the long-term prospects for the CRJ program remain positive, the reduced pace of orders has made a review of our production plans necessary," said Guy Hachey, Bombardier Aerospace's president and chief operating officer, in a statement.
"For these reasons and after careful consideration, a CRJ aircraft production decrease is warranted in the short term," he said.
Earlier this year, the company said it expected to delivery approximately 90 commercial aircraft through 2011. The company's outlook for 2012 will be laid out at the end of its current fiscal year.
The CRJ is a medium-haul aircraft that can carry 60 to 99 passengers, depending on seating configuration.
Bombardier's business aircraft also include the Q400 and the CSeries, which is due to enter service in 2013.
